 Friend -- I know it seems like every day a new state or race is in the news, but I wanted to make sure you didn't miss what's happening in Alabama: New polling has Doug Jones tied with or just behind his Republican opponent, Tommy Tuberville -- it's a dead heat. Remember when Senator Jones pulled off a historic victory in 2017? It looks like his path to victory in 2020 is widening every day, but he's still got a real shot to win this thing. It's so important to keep Doug's voice in the Senate. He's been with us where it counts every step of the way -- especially as we are trying to get COVID-19 relief to those who need it. He's been a strong ally on health care, women's rights, and voting rights.
I'm not the only one who's noticed what's happening in Alabama. Mitch McConnell has, which is why he's mobilizing an avalanche of dark money to attack Doug. Karl Rove's dark money group, as well as the extreme right-wing Club for Growth, booked millions of dollars in ads starting this week to attack Doug, and more are on the way. The stakes have never been higher. On the one side, you've got a football coach who's nothing more than a rubber stamp for Trump -- he even admitted on the radio that he "wouldn't have a clue" how to handle the coronavirus. On the other, you've got Doug Jones, who I'm proud to work with in the Senate. He's been instrumental in bringing people together and getting things done -- from helping get people and small businesses the help they need to get through the COVID-19 crisis to leading on bringing medical manufacturing back to America.
