**Register for the telephone town hall here**
Dear Friends,
I will be hosting a telephone town hall Tuesday, November 25th at 6:00 PM to discuss the continued fight to lower health care costs and protect nutrition assistance.
On November 12th, the longest government shutdown in our nation’s history ended. However, the bill Congress passed to reopen the government did nothing to address the high cost of health care. I have heard directly from constituents whose premiums are set to double. Inaction is not an option. Before I left Washington for the week, I signed a petition to force a vote on a plan Democrats put forward to extend health care tax credits for over 100,000 Connecticut residents.
While it is good news that SNAP benefits were reinstated, the budget President Trump signed into law still includes massive cuts to food assistance that must be reversed. Hundreds of thousands of Americans could still lose their benefits! I will continue to work to lower your costs, protect access to health care, and keep families fed.
I look forward to discussing these important issues with you. I hope to have you on the line. You can register and submit a question in advance HERE.
My office has also prepared a web page with Frequently Asked Questions as the government reopens. You can always contact us at 860-278-8888.
