Friends,

“Black women mayors are having a moment.”

That’s POLITICO with the understatement of the century. Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen America’s mayors of color -- leaders like Keisha Lance Bottoms of Atlanta, Lori Lightfoot of Chicago, and Muriel Bowser of DC -- rise to meet the needs of the moment and rebuke the Trump agenda in no uncertain terms.

Mayor Bowser painted “Black Lives Matter” right outside the White House. Mayor Lightfoot is the first black woman mayor of Chicago -- and has made police reform her mission since her inauguration last year. And the strength of Mayor Bottoms’ COVID response has earned her VP consideration -- even as the mayor battles her own COVID diagnosis.

Mayor Lightfoot put our thoughts into words when she responded to Donald Trump’s attacks on women leaders across the country, saying simply: “Mr. President, we are all tough women, and we're not going to take any stuff from anybody." Are you as glad as we are that America’s cities are in such good hands? Tell us:
