John,

This year, we’ve faced unprecedented attempts by Republicans to undermine our democracy. But we’ve also made some real progress to stave off map manipulation. I want to remind you of the impact your support is making:

FIRST: The Trump White House orchestrated a national scheme to steal power in the midterm elections by redrawing congressional maps in their favor, a move they believe could guarantee Republican control of the House before Americans even cast their ballots. They’ve passed these manipulated maps in Texas, Missouri, and North Carolina — and they’ve made it clear they won’t stop there.

THEN: The fair maps movement got to work to protect our representative democracy — and it’s paying off. The American people are waking up to the grave threat that Trump’s power grab poses, and their votes reflected that in the November elections. Voters in California, for example, overwhelmingly approved a new map to counter Texas Republicans’ redraw. And in Virginia, where Democratic legislators recently voted to provide their state the ability to push back against Trump’s cheating, voters showed out overwhelmingly in support – providing Democrats historic gains in the state legislature.

NOW: This crisis enters a new era, and the stakes are extremely high. Republican map manipulators are doubling down to expand this redistricting crisis to more states. We expect to see movement to gerrymander in states like Florida, Indiana, New Hampshire and Kansas in the new year.

John, progress is never a straight line. While we acknowledge our wins on Election Day a few weeks ago, our next big test is already staring us in the face. And it’s going to take all of us working together to defeat the GOP’s nationwide gerrymanders.

Please, make a gift to the NDRC and help power the movement for fair maps and fair representation. [[link removed]]
