I’ve got a huge update in our fight to end ICE’s cruel deportation policy against international students: Yesterday, amid mounting pressure from this grassroots movement and a lawsuit they were bound to lose, the Trump administration about-faced. The policy is no more.

It’s hard to overstate how huge this is. International students no longer have to worry about being kicked out of the country without cause. The despicable policy should have never seen the light of day — these young people make invaluable contributions to our country, and they deserve better than being used as a political football.

This is a win for decency and humanity, but we can’t stop here. Until we defeat Donald Trump in November, our communities will always be threatened by his administration’s cruelty. On Monday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced that students living in the United States on a student visa needed to leave the country or face deportation if their school moves classes online in the fall. That is unacceptable.

Yet again, we see the Trump administration going after young immigrants who went through official immigration processes, and trusted that America wouldn't go back on its promises. This is part of the Trump administration's attack on our immigrant community, and we will not stand for it.

International college students are our friends, neighbors, and loved ones. Their school's COVID-19 response shouldn't get them deported. Can I count on you to sign this petition calling on ICE to immediately cease deporting international students?

First, the Trump administration tried to end DACA and now, he's targeting international students. Once again, it's clear that we cannot trust President Trump to do the right thing. Instead, he picks the side of xenophobia and hatred and attacks the immigrant community. 

But, now we have a duty as people to try to save these young international students from the threat of deportation. So, will you sign this petition to demand that ICE immediately ceases deporting international students?
