Hey there, it’s Marc Elias. When Donald Trump and his allies filed a flurry of lawsuits to try to overturn the 2020 presidential elections, I took them to court again and again, winning 64 cases to uphold the will of the people.
We could not have protected the 2020 election results without Fair Fight’s pro-voter work. Their leadership in the past few election cycles has been critical for our democracy.
And now I’m working with Fair Fight to raise the alarm about a new threat to free and fair elections.
I want to explain more about this case below. Before I do, I want to ask you to make a donation to support Fair Fight’s work defending our democracy, if you’re in a position to give today, because it will be a huge help.

The Supreme Court is considering striking down a key plank of the Voting Rights Act. They could allow for the dismantling of congressional district maps that give people of color fair opportunities to elect the candidates of their choice. And that ruling could give Donald Trump and the GOP enough additional seats to lock in their party’s control of the House for a generation.
This all started when the Supreme Court took the extremely unusual step of rehearing a case that had covered narrower legal ground, giving them an opportunity to issue a more sweeping decision. The last time I can recall the Court rehearing an election-related case? Citizens United, which, of course, unleashed unlimited corporate money into our elections.
The timing of this case also reminds me of how the Court handled Citizens United. Usually, landmark rulings — like this one is poised to be — come in June. But the Court announced its Citizens United ruling in January 2010 — at the beginning of an election year. Now, it seems very likely that the Court’s ruling in this case could come by this January, giving Republican-run states enough time to gerrymander new maps ahead of the 2026 elections.
Rigging control of the U.S. House is just one piece of Trump’s plans to attempt an autocratic takeover.
It goes hand in hand with the voter suppression policies Republicans are enacting around the country. We could also see the Trump Regime deploying troops to more and more cities by the time voting starts — even using troops to close streets around certain polling places, resulting in longer lines and preventing communities from making their voices heard.
Fair Fight is pushing back against this anti-democracy agenda by calling the nation’s attention to the damage the Supreme Court may inflict on our democracy, exposing and preventing voter suppression, making sure voters have the information they need to get to the ballot box, helping elect voting rights champions, and organizing against the rise of authoritarianism.
So I’m asking if you can help ensure the strength and survival of our democracy by donating to Fair Fight today. Your support makes it possible to stay vigilant against new threats, and that’s only becoming more and more critical as MAGA escalates their attempts to undermine free and fair elections.
Thank you for everything you do as a member of this movement. It all adds up, and when we stick together for these fights, we win.
