Across Yemen, climate shocks are worsening the hardship of families uprooted by conflict, hitting women and girls the hardest. Heavy seasonal rains and floods have forced families to flee, destroying any shelter and means of survival.

“When the roof fell, everything we had was gone. We were left with nothing,” shared Husna, a widow, mother, and sole provider who watched in horror as her home was destroyed, leaving her and her three young daughters defenseless against the floods.

Husna stayed close to the remains of her home that first night. “It was all we had left,” she explained softly. “I couldn’t bear to leave it.”

UNFPA is delivering lifesaving aid to women and girls in need within 72 hours of displacement. But a critical funding gap threatens this lifeline when the next disaster hits.
