November 21, 2025
Dear Washingtonians,
For the third time in five years – and for the second year in a row – the Washington Spirit are back in the NWSL championship. And DC is ready to cheer them on to victory.
It was less than a decade ago that we opened Audi Field, and it was only in 2023 that the Spirit began playing all their home games there. And game after game, fans come to Buzzard Point from across the region to bring a sold-out Rowdy Audi to life.
The Spirit exemplify our commitment to and investments in keeping DC the Sports Capital. It’s about bringing fans and players together in world-class venues. It’s about pride in our city and building relationships between our teams and communities. It’s about the excitement and energy that games like tomorrow’s championship will bring to our city – all the way from San Jose.
With that said, we know there will be watch parties happening across the city, and I encourage you to find one. And on Friday and Saturday, we will light up the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge yellow in celebration of the Spirit.
Let’s go, Spirit – good luck and we’ll see you back in the District of Champions.
Sincerely,

The District’s leaf collection team is working their way through the first round of collection for Section B. Rake your leaves into the tree box or curb in front of your home and our crews will be by to collect. You can put your leaves in paper bags if you’d like, but please don’t use plastic bags—they can’t be composted.
Check your collection section and sign up for updates to stay informed.
