John,

When I joined the Army, I did it out of duty. I packed my bags in 24 hours and shipped out with my unit -- not knowing where we’d be sent, but knowing exactly why I was going: to protect the country that gave my refugee family a second chance.

That experience taught me what selfless service really means: trusting your teammates, setting aside differences, and getting the job done.

It’s the same mindset I carry with me in Congress.

That’s why I can’t stay quiet when the president calls to hang public servants for upholding the Constitution. I swore an oath to defend it. That oath lasts a lifetime. And no threat, no call for violence, will shake my commitment to it.

Now, the GOP wants to erase voices like mine from Congress. They’ve recruited four challengers and are flooding this race with millions in outside spending.

But I’m not going anywhere.

I did my part then -- wore the uniform, swore the oath, and I’m proud of that. And I’m doing my part now -- fighting for working families in CA-45 with the same sense of duty that led me to serve.
