Catching Up with Quigley: Week In Review

Dear John,

Another week in Washington means another week of fighting Trump's terrible policies. Here are three things I did to represent you:

1. Voted to Release the Epstein Files

On Tuesday, I voted to release the Epstein Files. Jeffrey Epstein was a pedophile, sex offender, and human trafficker. He abused, trafficked, and threatened over 1,000 girls — some as young as 14 — causing irreparable harm to their physical and mental health.

From his friendship in the ‘90s to emails as recent as 2019, Donald Trump had a clear and public relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Trump and his cronies have been hellbent on blocking the release of Epstein’s personal documents, protecting a disgusting pedophile and his enablers. The administration should know that Democrats will pursue a meticulous investigation into any documents that may be ‘lost’ or damaged, given this administration’s frequent disregard for the law.

Americans deserve a government they can trust. The survivors and their families deserve to be heard. For Virginia, and for every victim of child abuse and sexual assault, I was proud to vote in support of releasing the Epstein files.

2. Demanded Full Reinstatement of SNAP on the House Floor

On Thursday, I gave a speech on the House Floor, condemning the incoming SNAP cuts from Trump's Big Ugly Bill. The bill is going to kick 360,000 Illinois residents off the program, including veterans, elderly Americans, and kids aging out of foster care.

My team and I have been visiting St. Sabina Church in Chicago, which gives out food to people in need. There, I met a single mother of a child with disabilities. She waited for four hours in the cold for just one box of food, but without SNAP, she'll have to skip meals to feed her kid.

3. Supported Homeless Pets at PAWS Annual Event

I also attended the PAWS Chicago Annual ‘Fur Ball.’ As a no-kill shelter, PAWS has saved tens of thousands of animals – reducing euthanasia of Chicago’s homeless animals by over 90%.

As a dog dad and Co-Chair of the Animal Protection Caucus, I’m proud to fight to end unjust animal killings.
