We’re thrilled to share some wonderful news: U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen is now an official sponsor of the Medicare For All Act of 2025! Thank you, Senator! And thanks to Progressive Maryland’s healthcare leaders, staff, chapters, and our national affiliate, People’s Action for working over the years to organize for a Medicare For All system.
Senator Van Hollen is meeting this moment, fighting to protect our health coverage from GOP attacks and working to extend ACA tax subsidies so millions can afford health insurance. With his sponsorship, the legislative campaign for Medicare For All grows even stronger.
This victory belongs to all of YOU who have marched, knocked on doors, organized teach-ins and forums and came together to pass local M4A resolutions in nine jurisdictions across Maryland! The advocacy meeting that Progressive Maryland organized with the Senator in October gave us an opportunity to connect Medicare For All to all the ways in which the Senator has been meeting and leading at this moment.
Our organizing and coalition-building with allies like the Maryland Progressive Health Care Coalition, Public Citizen, Health Care Is A Human Right, National Nurses United, and Physicians for a National Health Program has helped us reach thousands of Marylanders about M4A and other healthcare justice issues.
