Email from Rep. McCaul An Exciting New Middle East This week, the UN Security Council finally did something right: They endorsed President Trump's plan for Gaza. President Trump's 20-point plan offers a once-in-a-lifetime chance at peace in the Middle East. I'm encouraged so many other nations agree and hope their endorsement will put more pressure on Hamas to disarm, end its oppression of the Palestinian people, and allow peace to prevail. President Trump also cemented historic deals with Saudi Arabia this week, which will be investing nearly $1 trillion in the United States. These economic deals benefit both of our economies, help stabilize the Middle East, and — crucially — bring us closer and closer to normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel. This Sunday, I'll be joining Martha Raddatz on ABC's "This Week" to discuss the evolution occurring in the Middle East and the latest in Ukraine, including the peace plan that was recently leaked to the media. McCaul in a previous appearance on ABC's "This Week" Keeping China's Hands Off Our Sensitive Technology I often say that the Chinese Communist Party steals sensitive U.S. technology, but we don't have to sell it to them. Congress passed export controls to respond to this challenge, enabling the U.S. government to deny the sale of certain technologies that our adversaries can use for military or intelligence purposes. This week, the House Foreign Affairs Committee held a hearing to examine how to bolster export controls that keep China from purchasing and/or exploiting U.S. military-grade technology like semiconductor chips and the tools and processes to make them. As the author of the CHIPS for America Act and the chairman emeritus of the committee, I have been a champion for export controls on U.S. technology that could be used to bolster China's military apparatus. At the hearing, I previewed a new bill I will be introducing to keep China's hands off of our most advanced semiconductor chips, and I asked our witnesses — industry professionals — if the bill would be helpful. Texans have suffered enough from President Biden's border crisis; they shouldn't have to bear the financial burden too. That's why, in May, I successfully fought for a provision in the One Big Beautiful Bill that would reimburse our border states with $13.5 billion. This week, I joined the entire Texas delegation on a letter urging the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice to prioritize Texas when they disburse the money. Texas has the most farms and ranches in the U.S., meaning our farmers play a vital role in keeping our economy afloat and feeding our entire nation. It's always a pleasure to hear about the issues affecting them and how those of us in Washington can support Texas' crucial agriculture industry!
