Herbert,
I believe government should serve the people — not the powerful.
That’s why I strongly opposed the recent funding “deal.” Buried in the fine print was a last-minute taxpayer-funded handout for a small group of U.S. Senators whose phone records were legally subpoenaed.
How much, you might ask?
The bill entitles them each to at least $1 million of your hard-earned tax dollars — and one Senator has already admitted he plans to take far more.
It’s outrageous. It’s self-serving. And it’s exactly why people are losing faith in Washington.
Thankfully, and with my help, the House has since voted to repeal this scheme. Now I’m calling on Senate leadership to bring the repeal up for a vote immediately.
At a time when families are struggling to afford groceries and gas, this kind of corruption sends a clear message: the system is rigged for the powerful and against everyone else.
No one deserves special treatment — and the American people shouldn’t be forced to pick up the tab.
