A Message from Gabe:
Greetings Rhode Islanders,
|
|
| This week, I had the honor of meeting Marlene Prichard, a local teacher and breast cancer survivor. Her health insurance premiums are skyrocketing by $600 a month next year because of President Donald Trump's and Republicans' disastrous health care policies. |
| |
| She joined me to raise the alarm about the catastrophic harm Trump's and Republicans' policies are causing to the American health care system. |
| |
|
Republican policies that cut over $1 trillion from our health care system and are letting the Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits that help 22 million Americans afford care expire, are hurting all no matter where they get their care.

|
|
|
| Marlene is not alone. Approximately 41,000 Rhode Islanders who get care through HealthSource RI, our state's ACA marketplace, will see their premiums increase. |
| |
| I heard from a Barrington small business owner whose family health insurance plan is going to balloon by $1,240 a month. |
| |
I heard from a single mom of a 21-year-old who will see her premiums increased by over $1,600 per month. The policies in Trump and Republicans’ Big, Ugly Law are mortgaging the health of Rhode Islanders to give tax breaks to billionaires.
|
| |
| During a hearing in the House Budget Committee this week, I asked the nonpartisan Director of the Congressional Budget Office how many people would be hurt if Congressional Republicans and President Trump did not extend the ACA tax credits. |
| |
The answer is grim: 4 million Americans will lose their health insurance because of Republicans' policy. This will drive up costs across our entire health care system and hurt us all, no matter how we get health insurance coverage.

It does not have to be this way. Congress must address the health care crisis caused by Republican policies, extend the ACA tax credits, and finally protect Americans' wallets.
|
|
|
| I won't stop fighting to hold Republicans accountable and will keep working to lower costs, stop the cuts, and save health care. |
| |
| Sincerely, |
 |
| Gabe Amo |

This Nonprofit Appreciation Month, I was glad to recognize the many Rhode Island nonprofits and volunteers who step up to support our neighbors!
In Congress, I will continue my work supporting nonprofits across our state.
To all the United Way of Rhode Island HOPE Award honorees, thank you for your service to our communities.

Celebrated the newly renovated Blackstone Valley Community Health Center at 42 Park Place, which will expand primary care access in Pawtucket and Central Falls.
I am still fighting to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits and undo cruel cuts that hurt our community health centers.

I put on my hard hat and visited Ocean State Labs to speak with construction workers preparing the space for new life sciences labs to move in!
Once completed, this facility will spur even more innovation in Rhode Island’s public health and biotech sector. I will keep working on the Science Committee to support this cutting-edge work.

Since 1975, SWAP Inc. has worked on renovating neighborhoods and providing affordable housing across Rhode Island.
Glad to discuss my work in Congress to increase affordable housing and proud to recognize their employees who work to build neighborhoods for Rhode Islanders of all income levels.

Good eats and good company at the Tiverton Firefighters Local 1703's Annual Spaghetti dinner!
I spoke about my work in Congress to support firefighters and thanked Rhode Island's bravest for all they do to keep us safe.

Joined Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos and volunteers for Operation Holiday Cheer! I spoke with volunteers who assembled care packages for deployed Rhode Island troops far from home.
From Rhode Island staples like coffee syrup to comforts like playing cards and socks, I hope these boxes will bring joy to our service members serving our nation this holiday season!

America’s digital future is here. I spoke with tech and telecom leaders at the 55th Annual New England Connectivity and Telecommunications Association Convention in Newport.
While President Trump and Congressional Republicans' policies undermine projects to close the digital divide, I am working to protect broadband funding and expand digital literacy.

Congratulations to Hope & Main on their new food incubator hub in the West End of Providence.
25% of the packaged foods made in Rhode Island are already developed at Hope & Main.
It was a pleasure to speak about what Congress can do to support small businesses and local food production. I cannot wait to try even more delicious food from their kitchens!

| Lowering Costs for Working Families |

| CLICK HERE TO WATCH: Congressman Amo calls out Republican policies raising the cost of living in a House Budget Committee meeting. |
| |
| President Trump's tariff policies are costing the average American $1,700 per year — equal to an extra month of rent. This is on top of Trump's policies causing more inflation, which are taking an extra $580 from Rhode Islanders' pockets this year. |
| |
| In the House Budget Committee, I called out Republican policies tipping the scales in favor of billionaires and big corporations. I am laser-focused on reducing the cost of living for Rhode Islanders. |

| Seeking Justice for Survivors by Voting to Release the Epstein Files |
| |
| For too long, Jeffrey Epstein’s heinous crimes against innocent survivors have been hidden by powerful men. In fact, the Trump administration has had the power to release the files and provide the truth Americans deserve. |
| |
| In Congress, too many Republicans repeatedly put forward policies that delayed releasing the files. Make no mistake, The New York Times reported that Epstein said President Trump “knew about the girls.” |
| |
| I voted "yes" to release the Epstein files so justice is served, truth sees the light of day, survivors are heard, and powerful people are held accountable for perpetrating abuse. I am glad to see that the Senate passed this bill immediately, and that the President signed it promptly. The Department of Justice must now comply and release the files. |

| Countering Trump's Policies in the Courts |
| |
| The Trump administration's policies are being challenged and overturned in court. Americans have filed over 500 lawsuits against the administration, and judges have partially or fully blocked over 149 of Trump's executive actions. |

| Recent Courtroom Wins: |
| |
| ✅ PROTECTING OUR TRANS FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS — Alongside 132 federal lawmakers, I filed an amicus brief in the cases of West Virginia v BPJ and Little v Hecox, urging the Supreme Court to protect the rights of trans people. |
| |
| ✅ STANDING UP TO TRUMP'S POLICIES ATTACKING THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION (FTC) — I filed an amicus brief alongside 206 federal lawmakers demanding President Trump reverse the firing of FTC Commissioner Rebecca Slaughter. |
| |
| ✅ URGING THE COURT TO UPHOLD TEMPORARY PROTECTED STATUS (TPS) FOR VENEZUELA — I joined 126 members of Congress in filing an amicus brief in the case of National TPS Alliance et al v Noem to demand that the Trump administration reverse its dangerous decision terminating TPS designation for Venezuela. |

| Months ago, Secretary of State Marco Rubio told me in a House Foreign Affairs Committee hearing that "no children are dying on our watch." |
| |
| That’s not true. Trump's and Rubio’s policies cutting foreign aid have led to over 600,000 deaths worldwide. |
| |
| Congress must not allow our country to walk away from our global leadership. |
