I brought together members of the Dads Caucus, the Young Men Research Project, and Professor Scott Galloway for a thoughtful conversation about how today’s changing economy, technology, and social pressures are shaping the lives of boys and young men. As a dad, this topic hits close to home.
Professor Galloway shared some of the early findings from his upcoming report, and they’re a wake-up call. He talked about the growing crisis of social isolation, especially among young men who are feeling disconnected from school, work, friendships, and even family life. His research shows that many young men are retreating into online worlds, struggling to build real-life relationships, and falling behind economically in ways that only deepen that isolation.
We compared notes, shared stories from our own families, and dug into what it looks like when boys start slipping through the cracks. More importantly, we talked about what communities, families, and leaders can do to create belonging, opportunity, and healthier pathways forward. We spoke extensively about those pathways of empowerment for young men existing through either mentorship, better mental-health support, community programs, or simply more adults showing up in the lives of young people.
It was an honest, necessary conversation. And it’s just the start of the work ahead.
