The government shutdown didn't just close offices, halt pay for countless federal employees, and impact critical social programs, john.

It also disrupted diabetes care and research for millions of Americans—and it exposed exactly why we need leaders who will protect and strengthen our health care system, not play games with it.

Thanks to Republicans' shutdown, Medicare patients lost access to the telehealth visits they rely on. The Special Diabetes Program—which funds life-saving research and supports Native American communities—was frozen overnight. SNAP funding was thrown into chaos. And now Affordable Care Act subsidies are at risk of expiring, which could double insurance premiums for families.

This is what happens when Congress can't (and won't) do its job.

And it’s a reminder that diabetes care—like every major health issue—is directly tied to the decisions our government makes.

November is Diabetes Awareness Month, a time to recognize the challenges millions of Americans face every day just to manage their health. Kim is committed to making sure that care is protected and improved, this month and every month.

We need a government that invests in medical research, not cuts it. We need leaders who understand that access to doctors, prescriptions, and life-saving technology shouldn't depend on political gridlock. And we need representatives who will strengthen the ACA, protect telehealth, protect SNAP benefits so at-risk patients can get the nutrients they need, keep insulin affordable, and support the programs families rely on every day.

If you agree, add your name now: We need stronger health care protections, and we need leaders who will fight for them. >> [link removed]
