AG Nessel Announces Staffing Promotions

*LANSING* – Today, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced the promotions of Christopher Braverman and Eric Jamison to division chiefs at the Department of Attorney General. Braverman has been named division chief of the Labor Division, and Jamison will serve as division chief of the State Operations Division.

“Both Chris and Eric are long-time civil servants who have dedicated their careers to the State of Michigan,” Nessel said. “We are lucky to have them, and I know they will continue to excel in their new roles.”

*Eric Jamison*

Jamison joined the Department in 2013 after practicing law in the private sector. He first worked as a tax litigator in the Revenue and Collections Division for three years before transferring to the State Operations Division. There, he worked to develop the eDiscovery group and handled civil litigation files. He was first promoted to a management role in 2017 and became the division chief of the State Operations Division in November 2025.

The State Operations Division has a diverse legal practice and provides legal support and representation to a variety of state agencies. Due to its diverse responsibilities and size, the State Operations Division is arranged in two practice areas: Transactional/IT and Litigation/eDiscovery.

Jamison graduated from Oakland University with a Bachelor of Science in General Management and graduated from Wayne State University Law School. He is a member of the State Bar of Michigan.

Braverman joined the Department in 2008 in the State Operations Division after working for two years in private practice. In 2012, he transferred to the Labor Division and, in 2017, was promoted to a section head. In 2020, Braverman became first assistant in the Licensing and Regulation Division, where he worked until he was promoted to division chief of the Labor Division in August 2025. During this time, Braverman has been involved in a range of high-profile and significant litigation, including class-action litigation in state and federal court, and has argued in the Michigan Supreme Court, the Michigan Court of Appeals, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

The Labor Division provides legal advice and representation to State entities that regulate or adjudicate various employment issues and provide various workforce benefits in accordance with the Federal and State Constitutions, laws, and regulations. The Division has offices in Lansing and Detroit, and is split into four sections: Regulatory, Vocational Safety, Unemployment, and Workers’ Compensation.

Braverman earned his undergraduate degree from Michigan State University in Business Administration/Pre-Law and then attended Michigan State University College of Law. He currently lives in Dewitt with his wife and two daughters.
