Friend — What we saw from Donald Trump yesterday crossed a very bright line.

He amplified posts calling for Democratic members of Congress to be arrested and executed. That is reckless, dangerous, and totally incompatible with the oath any elected official or member of the military takes.

Let me offer some perspective as someone who has led Marines in combat.

Recently, a group of Democratic veterans in Congress recorded a message reminding service members of something every officer learns on day one: no one in uniform is ever required to follow an illegal order.

Not from a commander, not from a general, not from a president.

That’s not partisan — it’s the foundation of civilian control of the military and the rule of law. It’s the reason our democracy survives transfers of power.

We’ve already seen what happens when Trump tries to blur that line, during both of his terms.

I watched on January 6th how quickly words can turn into violence. I’ve seen firsthand, in war zones and in Washington, how extremists interpret that kind of language as permission to act.

Here’s what else is true: Trump lashes out when he’s losing ground.

He’s not delivering for working families.

He’s not offering solutions to rising costs.

And with more questions emerging about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein, even some of his own supporters are having second thoughts.

When people like him feel the walls closing in, their behavior gets more erratic — and more dangerous. That’s exactly why we need steadier leadership, not more chaos.

But let me be equally clear: threats don’t intimidate me. They don’t intimidate the veterans in Congress he attacked.

And they won’t silence a movement that believes in democracy, the rule of law, and a government that works for everyday Americans.

This is a moment to stand firm, stay focused, and fight back.
