General Newsletter From the Office of Senator Andy Kim

Happy Friday, New Jersey,

This week and past weekend, Senator Kim was in New Jersey and Washington D.C., visiting small businesses that rely on the Gateway Project’s completion and talking with commuters on the Raritan Valley Line, as well as fighting to address the hunger crisis in our country.

What are you thankful for?

Ahead of Thanksgiving next week, we would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, however you may celebrate. We are so grateful to have you be a part of our community in New Jersey, and your engagement with our office week to week!

We’d like to invite you to share what you are thankful for. Please fill out our survey here. We will highlight responses on our social media pages.

Working for New Jersey:

TALKING WITH SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS:

Last weekend, Senator Kim was in Dunellen, talking with small business owners about the need to invest in public transportation infrastructure.

For small businesses like Deli Cream, restoring funding for the Gateway Project means improved train service, more foot traffic, and greater economic opportunity.

We must fully invest in the infrastructure that is needed to keep businesses across our state connected and thriving.

FIGHTING FOR COMMUTERS IN NEW JERSEY:

While in New Jersey, Senator Kim also joined commuters on the Raritan Valley Line (RVL), the NJ Transit rail line that connects the Raritan Valley region to NYC. The commuters the Senator spoke to shared their difficulties of multi-transfer trips, hours-long wait times, and aging infrastructure that does not meet their needs.

This is why we need full funding of the Gateway Project—to fix these problems and improve quality of life for all New Jerseyans.

WORKING TO ADDRESS THE HEALTHCARE CRISIS:

Earlier this week, Senator Kim joined the Brian Lehrer show on WNYC to talk about what it’s been like in D.C. post shutdown.

Senator Kim made a promise to fight as hard as he could to lower healthcare costs, and that is what he’s going to continue to do. Shame on Trump and Republicans who care more about lowering taxes for billionaires than lowering costs for the average American.

SUPPORTING IBEW IN NEW JERSEY

This week, Senator Kim met with members of IBEW Locals 33 and 400 from NJ to discuss the impact of Trump's Big Disastrous Bill, which took away member jobs and opportunities.

We must support projects that put people to work, not give tax breaks to Elon Musk and his billionaire friends.

FIGHTING TO END HUNGER IN AMERICA:

This week, Senator Kim joined Hunger Free America to help them release their annual hunger report. In short: we’re not doing nearly enough to help those who need it most.

In the richest, most powerful country in the world, no one should be struggling to figure out where their next meal is coming from.

WORKING TO IMPROVE MATERNAL HEALTH OUTCOMES:

In D.C., Senator Kim met with Heidi Murkoff, Founder of the What to Expect Project, to talk about how we can better improve maternal health outcomes and support expecting parents.

All moms—and dads—deserve to be supported and set up for success when it comes to starting a family.
