Dear Fellow Republicans,

An Inspector General report revealed that CPS employees spent millions in taxpayer dollars on luxury travel — Vegas suites, overseas trips, spa resorts — even as our schools struggle with overcrowded classrooms, resource shortages, and widening achievement gaps.

Overnight travel costs skyrocketed from $300,000 to nearly $8 million in just three years. The watchdog found CPS travel rules were “lax, vague, inadequate, and unenforced,” creating an environment where abuse could flourish without consequences. And when pressed for answers, Mayor Brandon Johnson’s office had none.

Illinois families deserve a school system that puts students first — not bureaucrats’ vacations. We’re fighting for transparency, accountability, and the responsible use of every public dollar.

Excessive Spending

A troubling pattern continues to be revealed in Chicago and Cook County politics — one defined by insider deals, ideological posturing, and financial mismanagement that hurts ordinary families.

Congressman Jesús “Chuy” García’s quiet move to anoint his successor is the latest reminder of Chicago’s machine-style politics, where power is passed through insiders rather than earned in open elections.

At the same time, City Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Ervin has injected partisan activism into city finances, using the treasury as a political platform instead of focusing on safeguarding taxpayer dollars.

Shenanigans

Reckless

While political leaders look inward, homeowners across Cook County are being hit with soaring property taxes, in some neighborhoods rising by 50–100%. The burden is falling hardest on working-class communities — particularly on the South and West Sides.

Together, these stories form a clear narrative: the Democrat political establishment is serving itself instead of the people. Insider appointments, politicized financial decisions, and unfair tax burdens are the natural outcome of one-party rule with no accountability.

Republicans have an opportunity to offer a stark contrast — standing for transparent elections, responsible fiscal management, and real tax relief for families who can’t afford to keep footing the bill for Democrat failures.

But there is real hope. Illinois Republicans are offering a responsible, accountable alternative rooted in fiscal discipline, fairness, and transparency. Voters are ready for leaders who put families first, and our party is rising to meet that moment.

Now is the time to get involved. Whether volunteering, spreading the word, or helping organize locally, your voice and your efforts matter. Together, we can strengthen our party, expand our reach, and build a brighter future for Illinois.

You may also confirm your registration using the Illinois State Board of Elections’ Voter Registration Lookup. If you need to register to vote, you can do so online—just have your Illinois driver’s license or state ID and the last four digits of your Social Security number ready. Do you think people who’ve moved to Tennessee, Florida, or California should still be shaping Illinois’ leaders and laws? Of course not. Yet it happens—unless we act.

A volunteer working group across the Collar Counties and Cook County is helping former Illinois residents remove their names from the voter rolls where they used to live.

Volunteers hand-address envelopes that notify movers that their registration may still be active here and encourage them to take action.

A similar effort in Pennsylvania reportedly achieved a 28% success rate. The blueprint exists—now it needs two things: stamps and handwriters.

How you can help

  • In DuPage, Cook, Lake, or Will: drop off unused or newly purchased stamps.

  • Outside those counties: you can still help—contribute stamps or volunteer to handwrite. Contact Project Director Willard Helander at [email protected] for the drop-off or mailing address and next steps.

This project can move the needle locally and statewide—and it can be replicated across all 102 Illinois counties. If you’re looking for a concrete, personal way to get involved, reach out to Willard and let her know you want to help clean up Illinois’ voter rolls.
