Foxx Report

The brainless and entirely unnecessary Schumer Shutdown is now even further in the rearview mirror – good riddance. Over 40 days of inaction on the part of Democrats ate up precious time that we could have spent delivering upon the priorities of the American people and securing substantive progress for the entire nation. This week – the first full week since the Schumer Shutdown ended – regular order was restored as House Republicans advanced several key pieces of legislation. Let’s discuss a handful of them.

American energy independence remains one of the most pertinent and prominent issues that House Republicans remain laser focused on. As we all know, under the Biden administration, the entire nation’s energy posture was severely diminished which drove up the cost of energy and created historic inflation. The abundance of natural resources right here at home – that are right at our fingertips – were cordoned off by red tape and burdensome regulations. We have vast repositories of natural resources across the entirety of the nation – why in the world would we deny ourselves the opportunity to harness and utilize them accordingly and make the lives of all Americans so much better?

This week, we advanced three separate Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolutions that undo burdensome regulations on American energy which were implemented by the Biden administration. These three CRA measures would reopen millions of acres of resource-rich land located in Alaska and Wyoming:

S.J. Res. 80

H.J. Res. 130

H.J. Res. 131

In addition to freeing up these previously cordoned off resources – such as coal, petroleum, and minerals –these three pieces of legislation will go on to create more American jobs and increase access to affordable energy that Americans will benefit from for years. I was proud to vote in favor of these three pieces of legislation, and to continue my support for President Trump’s agenda of increasing American energy independence.

Positive Progress

On Thursday, following the entirely unnecessary government shutdown, the Department of Labor was able to release its September Jobs Report to the public. This lapse was entirely avoidable if Democrats had chosen to abandon partisan politics and vote to fund the government alongside Republicans. While this jobs report reveals even more evidence that Republican policies are turning the economy in a better and stronger direction, the delay of this information ultimately hinders the ability of businesses to plan for the future. Our policies are working, and we will continue to work so that economic growth remains strong and that workers, job creators, and families can thrive.

A Piece of American History

Recently, John Hood of the John Locke Foundation penned another insightful article about how North Carolinians fought in the first formal battle for American independence. Here’s a short excerpt:

“It was 250 years ago this week that North Carolinians fought in their first formal battle for American independence. But they didn’t fight it in North Carolina — and they didn’t fight British redcoats…. What erupted 250 years ago this week was a battle between Patriot and Loyalist militiamen, not regulars, at a place in the South Carolina backcountry called Ninety Six.”
