This week is American Education Week , a moment meant to recognize the people who hold our public schools together. For those of us in education, it’s also a chance to speak honestly about what keeps students safe. If legislators were to ask us what we actually needed, our answers would look very different from the policies we’re handed.
We wouldn’t ask to be armed or to harden our schools to the point where students feel surveilled and unsafe. We would ask for support. For training rooted in prevention. And for access to the kinds of tools that reduce harm long before it ever reaches a classroom.
That is the work Teachers Unify does every day. Project Lockdown helps educators and families understand how secure firearm storage reduces the risks students face in classrooms, homes, and neighborhoods. Our Crisis Intervention & Support Team provides teachers with trauma-informed guidance, ongoing support, and preventive strategies to navigate the challenges we face every day.
With Giving Tuesday only 11 days away, an early gift helps us get these resources into more classrooms before the countdown ends. [[link removed]]

American Education Week reminds us just how much is asked of educators, and Giving Tuesday [[link removed]] reminds us that we all have a role in ensuring teachers have what they need to keep children safe and cared for.
On December 2nd, we’ll be asking our community to help us expand this work through more prevention training, increased secure-storage outreach, and enhanced crisis support for the individuals who keep our schools together.
If you’d like to get a head start, you can make an early Giving Tuesday gift today. [[link removed]]
