Dear john, As folks across the country prepare to celebrate Thanksgiving next week, I wanted to take a moment to express how thankful I am for the opportunity to serve as your congresswoman. It is a true honor and privilege to represent you in Washington, and I am so grateful for the trust you have placed in me and my team as we continue working to address your needs and priorities. This was a busy week in our nation's capital as Congress was back in session Monday through Friday. While here, I participated in several committee hearings and markups, including an Education and Workforce Committee hearing where I spoke up about recent cuts to the Department of Education. House Republicans have voted to exclude part time students from financial aid programs like Pell, and they have gutted offices and programs such as the Office of Civil Rights and the Institute of Education Sciences, which help students with disabilities. Congress and the Trump Administration should be doing more to lower costs and improve student outcomes. In response to deeply concerning reports regarding pregnant women in detention facilities, I am demanding that the Administration take steps to protect vulnerable these women and their children. To learn more about these efforts, read more from The 19th News. Back home in Georgia, I want to uplift some good news regarding a new federal investment in enhanced mobility in Cobb County. The Federal Transit Administration just announced that the Cumberland Community Improvement District (CID) and Cobb County will be a recipient of a $6.6 million grant to launch a new autonomous shuttle network in the Cumberland district. I was proud to advocate my support for this grant application back in July, and I look forward to seeing how this new transit partnership enhances the district! | Thank you for staying up to date with my office.
