Save our wetlands in front of heron

The news just broke, John. The Trump administration is redefining what constitutes “water of the United States.”

In this move, it would remove protections for over 90% of our nation’s wetlands and waterways.

This matters because wetlands — like marshes, swamps and floodplains — are one of the best resources we have to protect communities and the climate. If we allow the draining of wetlands, we risk our nation’s drinking water, flood protections and critical habitats.

We have 45 days to fight back and remind the Trump administration's EPA it’s their job to protect our waterways. Will you join us in protecting wetlands?

Many of the homes and businesses that flood today were built upon yesterday’s wetlands and streams. As a nation, we already spend billions annually responding to disasters that were created by building in risky areas.

With the change in definition, commercial developers will be allowed to pave over and build on top of drained wetlands, increasing the already devastating property damage and unnecessary harm to people.

Plus, we’ll lose out on one of the best tools we have to remove water pollution. This will not only threaten our health, but it will also drastically raise household water bills as water treatment costs skyrocket.

Right now, we need to show our leaders that wetlands matter and people across the country care about protecting them. Add your voice now.
