John,
Over 25 million Americans will lose extended unemployment benefits if the supports put in place early in the pandemic are allowed to expire at the end of July. Millions of immigrant workers have yet to receive any help from the federal government.
The Senate needs to pass the HEROES Act NOW. Millions of Americans are facing financial uncertainty and need relief.
CALL your U.S. Senator at 1-855-674-8044 and tell them: #DOYOURJOB and pass the HEROES Act NOW.
In a survey of domestic workers conducted early this month, the overwhelming majority told us that they were experiencing food insecurity, and more than half were unable to pay their rent.
Passing the HEROES Act would be an important first step toward giving domestic workers on the front lines of this crisis the immediate support and protection they need. The House of Representatives took swift action and passed the bill two months ago...and now it’s stalled in the Senate.
CALL your U.S. Senator at 1-855-674-8044 and tell them: #DOYOURJOB!
We cannot sit back and wait for the current benefits to expire, expecting that they can be quickly turned on at a later date. Any interruption in benefits could mean domestic workers are unable to pay their rent, buy food or medicine, or take care of their families. And the scope of this crisis is far bigger than the bills Congress has passed: too many Americans are STILL waiting to receive any help from the first relief package*.
The call to action in this moment is clear: the Senate has to act NOW to pass the HEROES Act and ensure that domestic workers receive the help they need.
CALL 1-855-674-8044 and tell your U.S. Senator: #DOYOURJOB and pass the HEROES Act.
Thank you for all that you do,
