Dear Friend,
This week, we shared a New York Times piece [[link removed]] which featured the emblematic story of Maribel Lopez, who was hastily deported to Guatemala despite a pending asylum appeal and separated from children, including her two-year-old toddler.
Despite her heartbreak and fear, Maribel bravely shared her story with journalists. As she awaits to be released from detention, her team of lawyers are working around the clock to ensure she can be reunited with her children, and they need your support. Please consider giving to Maribel’s legal defense fund

Maribel’s story is about countless of families across the United States grappling with an alarming trend that echoes the policies of the first Trump administration.
It is also a story about a network of advocates who stand on the side of justice, truth, and dignity; the lawyers, translators, legal service providers, and volunteers who come together to defend the rights of the most vulnerable, sometimes at their own expense.
As we move forward in these troubling times, strengthening community is vital so we can guarantee no parent is ever separated from their child.
In Solidarity,
Young Center Board and Staff
