This is a critical moment.
More than one million federal workers – including more than 15,000 VA nurses – have had their hard-won collective bargaining rights illegally revoked by the Trump administration. But in the coming days, we can take a huge step toward winning them back with a vote in Congress.
The Protect America’s Workforce Act is a federal bill with bipartisan support that would restore these rights for VA nurses, strengthening the care our nation’s veterans receive at Veterans Health Administration facilities across the country. Crucially, it would restore collective bargaining rights for all other unionized federal workers, too.
We may never get this opportunity again.

Hi, my name is [First Name]. I am your constituent, and I’m a ______ (nurse/other health care worker/patient/veteran). I’m calling today to urge you to vote YES on the bipartisan Protect America’s Workforce Act (H.R. 2550) which would restore collective bargaining and union organizing rights for more than one million federal workers, including 15,000 nurses in the VA. Union rights are fundamental to nurses’ role as patient advocates. The Trump administration’s executive orders illegally revoking these rights are an outrageous attack on all workers and a blatant union-busting effort. I urge you to stand up for workers’ rights and safe patient care for veterans by voting YES on the Protect America's Workforce Act (H.R. 2550). Thank you. |
Nurses are committed patient advocates – that’s why we are demanding the passage of this bill. We need our union protections in order to speak up about our patient safety concerns.
If the Protect America’s Workforce Act passes the House and Senate, Congress will overturn the Trump administration’s anti-worker executive orders from earlier this year that illegally ripped away our union protections. And thanks to your continued advocacy, the bill has received the 218 signatures required to bring it up for a floor vote in the House.
VA nurses provide high-quality, therapeutic care to our veteran patients every single day. We refuse to stand by and allow this administration to intimidate and silence us. It’s time for Congress to take action to fix this for our veterans, VA nurses, and over one million federal workers.

Nurses and workers across the country have spent months demanding this vote – and now, we finally have the chance to win. We have rallied at the offices of our representatives, we have called, and we have organized. It’s time to finish the job together!
Thank you for being with us.
In solidarity,
National Nurses United
