I refuse to let them Make America Saudi Arabia again.
John,
Over the past few months Trump has welcomed just about every despotic totalitarian killer in the world for warm welcomes on American shores.
First it was far-right Israeli mass killer Netanyahu. Then it Russia’s Putin. Last week it was *former* Al-Qaeda terrorist turned Syrian President Jolani (up until just a few months ago had a $10,000,000 State Dept. bounty on his head for personally beheading people, killing US soldiers, and waging a war against the US).
This week, President Trump gave a warm welcome to another blood soaked dictator, Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman (MBS) who was visiting the United States from Monday to Wednesday night.
Bin Salman became an international pariah after he ordered the brutal execution, butchering, and dismemberment of American journalist Jamal Khashoggi.
MBS rules his country with an iron fist and allows for slave labor, horrible conditions for women, and a judicial system where people can be executed for one wrong word against the regime.
And last year, a federal judge ruled that Saudi Arabia must face litigation for the role they played in aiding the 9/11 hijackers and orchestrating the attacks, denying them immunity and allowing victims' families to proceed with seeking damages.
Unlike my opponent Lauren Boebert who refuses to condemn Saudi Arabia, has helped Trump obfuscate his business dealings there, and recently helped fellow Gulf State autocracy Qatar get an airbase on US soil, I am no friend to these dictators.
During the height of the Arab Spring I was a reporter for Yahoo! News and met dozens of Saudi human rights activists like now imprisoned human rights lawyer Waleed Abulkhair, Wajeha al Huwaider, “the most dangerous woman in Saudi,” Samar Badawi, and Manal al-Sharif whom I helped with her autobiography, Daring to Drive, and thanked me in the credit section of the book.
I was so moved by their stories that I founded Honk for Saudi Women, an international pressure campaign where people the world over “honked” and made noise to call out Saudi Arabia. It went viral and we got thousands of people including Nancy Pelosi, Roseann Barr, and Amy Poehler to honk in defiance of Saudi misogynist autocrats.
