B Stands for Beyond the Noise
Beyond the noise of discouraging immigration news, many leaders and organizations from across the political spectrum are working tirelessly to keep our nation’s promise of the American Dream alive. Each year at the Forum, we honor champions of change committed to making our country a better place for all.
Last week in Washington, D.C., the Forum celebrated the contributions of a group of honorees who embody the spirit of immigrant achievement, further the well-being of immigrants, and advocate for the value of immigrants and immigration to the nation – Keepers of the American Dream.
Each honoree has a unique story of advocating for immigrants:

Dr. Dan Boone, President at Trevecca Nazarene University, has made it his mission to expand support for DACA recipients, create pathways of opportunity for immigrant families, and foster a culture that affirms the dignity and contributions of all students.

Carla Cochrane, Chapter Leader at Women of Welcome and an evangelical Christian from Ellis County, Texas, felt God call her on a mission to serve asylum-seekers. At the southern border, Carla distributed food, water, blankets, and prayer to the individuals and families seeking refuge in America.

Throughout our country’s history, immigrants have been a bedrock, making vital contributions to economic, cultural, and innovative achievements. America’s dated immigration system desperately needs reforms. The last major immigration reforms were signed into law in 1986, nearly four decades ago. Now, more than ever, President Trump and Congress must seize this opportunity to enact elusive immigration reforms that not only strengthen our security but also boost our economy and reflect our humanitarian ideals.
