Dear Friend,
Planned Parenthood has announced that it is being forced to leave the Title X family-planning program because of Donald Trump's gag rule.
That's $60 million in family-planning funds no longer going to Planned Parenthood for Pap smears, contraception, and other health care for low-income people.(1)
Worse yet, Trump is now sending money to fake clinics run by anti-choice activists that shame and lie to women -- including $1.5 million in California alone.(2)
This is direct attack on the 4 million people who rely on Planned Parenthood for health care. Congress CAN override Trump's gag rule, and we're going to make sure that the politicians who stand with Trump pay a steep political price.
Will you donate to help stop Trump's family-planning gag rule?
There's no way around it: Trump's gag rule requires doctors to lie to their patients.
Under the rule, doctors receiving Title X money are not allowed to tell women where they can get safe and legal abortion care -- even if the women ask for it. It's such an egregious imposition on medical ethics that the American Medical Association has sued the Trump administration over the rule.(3)
Planned Parenthood had no choice but to leave the program, rather than comply with Trump's gag rule.
Health care for millions of people is in danger, because the organization is by far the largest provider of reproductive health care in America. 40% of women already live in counties without a clinic providing full reproductive care, and that number is now sure to skyrocket.
Courage Campaign is pushing every California Republican to join Democrats in standing with Planned Parenthood and stop the family-planning gag rule. Will you donate?
Yes, I’ll donate to stand with Planned Parenthood and fight Trump’s family-planning gag rule.
Yours in the fight for our reproductive rights,
Mary, along with Analeeza, Annie, Brenna, Caitlin, Diego, Eddie, Gabby, Lindsay, Mai, Molly, Raquel, and Scottie (the Courage team)
