(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont today announced that Office of Policy and Management (OPM) Secretary Jeffrey Beckham will be stepping down from his position at OPM effective December 5, 2025. In the coming weeks, the governor plans to nominate Secretary Beckham to serve as a Superior Court judge.
Additionally, the governor announced that he is nominating Joshua Wojcik to serve as the next OPM secretary. Wojcik will begin serving in the role in an interim capacity immediately upon Secretary Beckham’s departure, and then Governor Lamont will formally submit his nomination to the General Assembly for its consideration at the start of the 2026 regular session in February.
“Over the last several years, Jeff has been a trusted advisor, not just for me but for all of our state agency heads, and his work has helped ensure that our state offices are operating in a coordinated manner and that taxpayer funding is being used wisely and efficiently,” Governor Lamont said. “During Jeff’s tenure at OPM, Connecticut made a dramatic turnaround with its fiscal management, ushering in a new era of fiscal stability that has resulted in numerous financial agencies delivering credit rating upgrades the state has not seen in decades. I appreciate the service he has provided our state and his many contributions to our administration. I thank Josh Wojcik for agreeing to step into this role at OPM, and I look forward to working with him to continue enacting smart fiscal policies that create savings for taxpayers, while freeing up resources for the state to make critical investments in programs and people.”
“Serving Connecticut as OPM secretary has been a great privilege,” Secretary Beckham said. “Over the past four years, we passed the largest income tax cut in state history, made significant progress in paying down pension debt, and received several credit rating increases. I want to thank Governor Lamont for his trust in me during my time as secretary and for nominating me to continue serving our state. To the staff of the Office of Policy and Management, thank you for all you do each day to make our state a better place to live and work. Your dedication and commitment to service are evident each day.”
Wojcik currently serves as director of health care policy and benefits at the Office of the State Comptroller in a role that he has held since 2022. In this position, Wojcik is the chief administrator of the state employee health plan, responsible for launching new initiatives and overseeing ongoing operations. While at the Comptroller’s Office, Wojcik has played a key role in initiating major policy changes that have resulted in significant savings and other improvements for Connecticut in the areas of health care, state finances, and pension planning.
From 2012 to 2022, he worked in the Comptroller’s Office as an assistant comptroller and policy director. Prior to that, he was a policy analyst for the Connecticut Senate Democrats caucus, where he worked on health policy and budget-related issues.
“I am humbled by the opportunity to serve as the next secretary of the Office of Policy and Management,” Wojcik said. “I look forward to working with Governor Lamont and legislative leaders to build budgets that will continue to improve the lives of the residents of our state. Thanks to the efforts of Governor Lamont and Secretary Beckham, the state’s financial foundation is strong. Moving forward the challenges and issues may change, but the priorities remain the same, meeting the needs and improving the lives of Connecticut residents with budgets built for long term sustainability.”
“Josh Wojcik is one of the smartest public policy minds that I've ever met,” Comptroller Sean Scanlon said. “He has been an invaluable advisor to me and to my predecessors in the Comptroller’s Office. The work he has done as a leader in our agency and state includes designing transformational health care policy that saves lives and saves taxpayer money and budgetary policy that led to Connecticut's fiscal comeback. So, while I am certainly sad to see him leave our team, Governor Lamont has made an excellent choice, and I know Josh will step into the job of OPM secretary on day one and do great things for Connecticut.”
Wojcik earned a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Connecticut. He lives in Brooklyn, Connecticut, with his wife Wendy and his two children.
