Today is World Children’s Day, marking the beginning of PACT’s Giving Season — a time to champion child protection and ensure that every child is safe and supported.

As a member of PACT’s Board and Survivors’ Council, I’ve spent nearly two decades working alongside other survivors, advocates, and law enforcement to support victims and raise awareness about the realities of human trafficking.

One of the greatest myths that I still hear is that trafficking isn’t happening here in the United States.

Many believe it’s a problem in other countries, affecting other people. The truth is, it’s happening right here on our streets, in our neighborhoods, and in the places you wouldn’t expect: schools, shopping centers, online spaces, or through someone a child already knows and trusts.

No community is exempt from trafficking – it’s closer than you think.

That’s why our work matters. PACT focuses on the power of prevention and education. Every dollar you give helps to protect a child, equipping them and their communities with the knowledge and resources needed to stop trafficking and exploitation before it begins.

Together, we can replace myths with truth and help build a safer world for every child.
