DEMOCRATS FLIP RED CITY COUNCIL SEAT IN LAWTON

While many are still talking about stunning Democratic victories from earlier in the month, I'm here to tell you about an UPSET right here in Oklahoma!

This Tuesday, Tiffiney Dimery  a retired Army major and community leader, flipped a Republican seat on Lawton's City Council! 

In 2024, these Precincts favored Donald Trump by 22 points. But because of her people powered campaign focused on the needs of her neighbors, she won against an out of touch Republican incumbent.

This is exactly the kind of momentum we've been working toward at OKDEMS, and that I know so many of you have been working toward in your communities. 

OKDEMS co-hosted a Get Out the Vote canvassing event in Ward 4 earlier this month. We aimed to boost Democratic turnout in our strongest precinct. 

Thanks to the hard work of our staff in preparing contact lists and to our volunteers, we knocked nearly 200 doors in that precinct and had meaningful conversations about the campaign with over 80 voters in Lawton. 

Our efforts complimented the work done by Dimery's campaign as she secured over 60% of the vote in a precinct where Donald Trump received 55% just last year.

Overall, this R+22 city council seat shifted 32 points to the left with Dimery flipping two precincts and winning her election by 75 votes!

Working together, Democrats in Lawton ousted an incumbent extremist councilmember - who had harassed his own constituents peacefully protesting during the most recent No Kings Day events. 

While the national news will still be talking about Democratic victories in blue and purple States, we know that there are more wins to come here in Oklahoma. 

We'll keep fighting around the State in Special Elections happening right now, and building for victory in Campaign 26!
