The sound of trumpeting is ringing across the savanna! We’re honored to announce that
Denny
Sanford Elephant Valley will officially open on March 5, 2026, and we
wanted you to be among the first to hear this exciting news. In a few short months,
you’ll be able to walk step-by-step with elephants at the San Diego Zoo
Safari Park like
never before.
Elephant Valley is the largest and most transformative project in our 109-year history.
It will transport you to the heart of the savanna, where you’ll connect up-close with
the largest land animals on Earth. You’ll also discover more about local communities
living among elephants and how we partner with them through our Savanna
Conservation Hub
to protect these gentle giants. From panoramic vistas to African-influenced cuisine at
Mkutano House, Elephant Valley will immerse you in the world of the savanna.
In the meantime, explore this sneak peak
of what
you’ll experience when you visit,
and meet the
members of the herd we have the honor of caring for every day.
Thank you for being part of our
conservation family and making this historic moment
possible. Because of allies like you, we can help save, protect, and care for
elephants—in San Diego and around the world.
