John,

Every day you check out Strong Towns, we seem to have the same message for you: Your city is going broke!

But maybe you look out your window and wonder: But is it, really? Things look pretty okay out there to me.

Here's the thing: a lot of cities are superficially prosperous. The streets are (mostly) smooth. 911 comes when you call. The garbage gets picked up right on schedule.

Yet many of these places are facing a long-term budget crisis. And the signs of that slow-motion crisis are everywhere—if you're willing to look.

If you're still not convinced, our founder and president Chuck Marohn wrote a post today just for you. Here's exactly why so many of our seemingly-thriving cities aren't doing so hot

—and why it's so important that we pay attention.

Give it a read, and then look out that window again. Then let us know: do you still see your town the same way?

-Kea and the rest of the Strong Towns team.
