Upcoming Fee Updates

The Board of Island County Commissioners recently approved an updated fee schedule for both Land Use and Building Permits (Resolution C-54-25), as well as the building valuation table which is used to calculate building permit fees. The approved fee updates will become effective on January 15, 2026.  To view the resolution and the updated permit fee schedule, please click here.

Please note:

• Permits submitted and deemed complete before January 15, 2026, will be subject to the 2025 fee schedule.
• Permits submitted but incomplete as of January 15, 2026, will be subject to the 2026 fee schedule.
• Permits submitted after January 15, 2026, will be subject to the 2026 fee schedule.

Permit Counter By Appointment Only - Dec. 22 through Jan. 2

From Monday, December 22, 2025 through Friday, January 2, 2026 the permit counter for the Planning & Community Development Department will be closed during regular business hours. Staff will be working during this time and will be available by appointment.

• To make an appointment to submit a Building permit during this time, please email [email protected] or call 360-679-7339.

Many permits can be submitted online through our portal, this service will remain available during the counter closure dates above. Planning & Community Development staff will be available by phone and email from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm as well.
