Dear Morningside Center friends,

This spring, amid the Covid lockdown, we invited each of our 35 staff developers to come up with a creative project to support young people and educators during these extremely hard times.

They are now coming through with an abundance of activities, videos, and articlessome playful, some deep, all intended to give you a boost. Last issue, we shared our first projecta set of interactive online SEL-oriented games, adapted/created by Jason Jacobs and Laurine Towler, that are ideal for beginning the school session (summer or fall).

In this issue, we are excited to share a blog debut by Nicole Lavonne Smith and an art activity by Emily Feinstein to help your students get to know each other. Enjoy!!

And please note that we have three webinars coming up in August! Save the dates and stay tuned for more information.
Read & Do: More Creative Gifts from our Staff
"This Juneteenth was special – not because a surge of states and cities decided to recognize a day that many of us were already celebrating, but because today’s Black dissent and anger is a display of love. And because anti-racism is truly patriotic, and unrest is reassuringly inspiring." Blogpost by Nicole Lavonne Smith.
This activity, ideal for the beginning of a school session, helps students get to know each other through art. They interview each other, create a drawing or collage based on what they heard, and share it with each other and the class. By artist and staff developer Emily Feinstein.
