Trump wrote that he hoped the Baileys might find solace in knowing the young family is âtogether again in the arms of their Creator,â and he expressed confidence that their surviving grandson, Finn, âwill certainly carry on the indelible legacy of his parents and siblings.â
The president also turned to Darren Baileyâs leadership and decades-long service to Illinois.
âThroughout your career, you have been a true champion for the people of Illinois,â he wrote, encouraging Bailey to continue to
âFight! Fight! Fight!â
for the state he loves, even amid profound grief. âTheir love for you will forever endure, and their spirits will remain by your side,â the letter said.
Shortly after receiving the presidentâs message, Darren Bailey took to social media to thank supporters and to make one point unmistakably clear: he is staying in the race for governor.
âWe will FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT â and we will WIN,â Bailey wrote. âCindy and I arenât backing down. Not now. Not ever. Illinois families are hurting, and weâre standing shoulder to shoulder with every single one of you whoâs tired of being ignored, overtaxed, and pushed aside.â
Trump closed his letter by assuring the family that the entire nation is praying for them:
âMay God bless you, and may His grace grant you and Cindy abiding peace and comfort.â
The message reflects a bond that has strengthened over the years. President Trump endorsed Baileyâs gubernatorial bid in 2022, and their friendship remains firm â grounded in shared values, faith, and a commitment to Illinois families.
