Friend,
President Trump ran on "bring[ing] transparency and accountability back to our government." He also promised to make the Epstein files public. So far, he has not delivered on either one.
But last week, scores of emails from Jeffrey Epstein – the late financier, child sex offender and trafficker, and close friend of Donald Trump, who died in federal prison during Trump's first term – went public.
It's no wonder that once Trump won the White House, he changed his tune: He clearly does not want the American people to know the depth of his relationship with Epstein.
Instead of releasing the files he pledged to make public, Trump has spent his time adding $3 BILLION to his net worth, slashing your health care, and raiding your hard-earned benefits to shower $1.5 TRILLION in tax breaks on himself and his billionaire friends.
He’s been busy imposing reckless tariffs that hit working families the hardest – driving the economy into a tailspin and making everyday life more expensive at every turn.
And while doing all of that, he’s ignored a looming health care catastrophe – one that will force 24 million Americans to watch their premiums double, triple, or even quadruple next year, including nearly 300,000 Coloradans.
And to top it off, he used the government shutdown to block the House of Representatives from voting on the Epstein files. But he only delayed the inevitable.
Last night, the House finally voted 427-1 in support of the bill to release the files. Just minutes after that, I joined my colleagues in the Senate to unanimously approve releasing the files. It’s now sitting right on the president’s desk – and with veto-proof majorities in both chambers, there’s nothing he can do.
It’s a stunning rebuke from his party, and concrete proof of the power the American people hold – that you hold – when we speak out in one voice to demand real accountability and transparency from the officials they elect to serve. No more empty promises, no more smoke and mirrors.
Because now more than ever, the American people deserve the truth.
Thank you,
Michael
