As a Victory Campaign Board member and a proud Texan, I spend a lot of time thinking about the Lone Star state. So when a friend texted me a picture of U.S. Senator Ted Cruz brazenly defying the CDC's orders to wear a mask on airplanes, I thought others deserved to know and I posted it to Twitter. And boy, did the tweet blow up.

While so many of our LGBTQ state legislators and local leaders are fighting to save small businesses, preserve healthcare access and stop the spread of COVID-19, Ted can't be bothered to wear a mask. In Ted's home-state, COVID-19 cases are on the rise! But instead of being outraged about a Senator's disregard for others, these are the replies I received:

These responses are deeply disheartening - and I got them just because I talked about Victory Fund in a tweet! - but I know the attacks our candidates face are a lot worse. Will you chip in today to protect LGBTQ candidates who CARE about science from attacks like these?

Politicians like Ted Cruz must be held accountable when they don't act in the public's interest, and the best way to hold a politician accountable is by kicking them and their cronies out of office.
