Dear Friends,
Reopening the federal government was an important first step but there is still a lot more work to do for the American people. Republicans wasted weeks doing nothing to protect the Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits. Brownsville resident, Alix Flores, relies on ACA health coverage to manage a chronic health condition he’s had for more than 30 years. Without coverage, he will be faced to pay $1,000 out of pocket for medications.
Do you think Congress should extend ACA tax credits and keep your healthcare costs low?
Any deal to reopen the government should have addressed the looming health care crisis that places 130,000 South Texan's at risk of losing their coverage. That’s why I signed a discharge petition to force the House to vote on extending ACA tax credits subsidies for another three-years. It is past time we get serious about putting “America First.” Without honest, bipartisan negotiations, Republicans are once again choosing Americans last.
