I’m a third-generation veteran who took an oath to uphold the Constitution and defend our country. I've always understood that our democracy is a gift, not to be taken for granted. 

When Donald Trump won again and began implementing policies from the Project 2025 playbook on day one, I knew the fight for our values would get even harder. 

This is not theoretical; this is very real. Project 2025 is a 900-page mandate from far-right think tanks and former officials. It presents a ruthless, systemic plan to undermine our fundamental freedoms and reshape the federal government into a political weapon.

It's a threat to democracy, our way of life, and the rule of law. 

Project 2025 is rolling back critical reproductive rights and access to health care. It explicitly calls for eliminating federal diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs and rolling back protections for the LGBTQ community in health care, education, and the workplace. That’s happening right before our eyes.

And as a veteran, I am especially concerned by their desire to inject partisan politics into our armed forces and to disregard the long-standing, apolitical tradition of the U.S. military.

The architects of Project 2025 didn’t hide their intentions, and they have moved swiftly to implement this agenda without congressional approval, leaving it to the courts to determine the legality of their actions. 

We must all remain vigilant and engaged. We must continue to fight these antidemocratic attacks in Congress, in the courts, and in the court of public opinion. The recent election showed that this approach is working.
