Hey team, it's Pa Houa, the Central Valley Regional Coordinator at EnviroVoters.
Danger is looming in my community of Fresno. A mining company called CEMEX is planning to blast a 600-foot pit right next to the San Joaquin River. They would pollute our air and water for the next 100 years and make us pay for the damages to our health and public infrastructure.
But this goes deeper—because we're not fighting just one project. We're fighting a billion-dollar corporation with a long history of environmental destruction.
CEMEX has been fined before for polluting the Truckee River that feeds into Lake Tahoe.
They've been fined for water and air pollution in Colorado, in Ohio, in Alabama, and beyond.
In the United States alone, they've been caught on 82 environment-related offenses and have been fined more than $45 million. (1)
Their track record paints a clear picture: CEMEX will do anything to make themselves richer at the cost of our environment, our health, and our economy. Sign my petition today to protect California communities from CEMEX's dangerous and costly pollution.

Fresno County is the top agricultural producer in the entire country. Yet we also consistently rank as one of the most polluted counties in the country. Families here breathe more pollution, kids go to the emergency room with higher rates of asthma, and far too many people in my community die from diseases tied to dirty air.
The CEMEX project is going to put my community's health on the line and put us on the hook for the cost. If they get their way, they'll rake in profits while our tax dollars go to fix the public infrastructure they damage.
The people of Fresno deserve clean air, safe water, and an affordable future—and you can help make that possible. Will you sign your name today and take a stand against CEMEX's dangerous mining proposal?
Thanks for being part of this movement and fighting for my community!
