JULY 15, 2020: Sixty-two percent (62%) of voters nationwide are proud of America’s history. A Scott Rasmussen ([link removed]) national survey found that 27% are not and 11% are not sure. However, for understandable reasons, 65% of Black voters are not proud of America’s history.[1] ([link removed])
The survey also found that 78% of voters nationwide are proud to be an American. That total includes 61% of Black voters along with 68% of Hispanic voters and 83% of white voters.[1] ([link removed])
Other findings from the survey show that 52% consider themselves very patriotic and another 28% are somewhat patriotic. Older voters are significantly more patriotic. At the other extreme, by a 47% to 42% margin, voters aged 18-24 say they’re not patriotic.[1] ([link removed])
Additionally, 48% believe the United States is a good role model for the world to follow while 35% disagree and 17% are not sure. A majority of white voters (52%) believe the U.S. is a good role model while a majority of Black voters (54%) disagree. Hispanic and other voters are evenly divided.[1] ([link removed])
