We want to make sure you know about some extraordinary victories you helped make possible this month, in a place that too many political observers write off: Mississippi.

Thanks to supporters like you, we were able to invest in electing Democracy Champions to critical state-level offices — and it paid off. With our Mississippi partners, we:

* Added Democratic seats in the Mississippi legislature for the first time in decades
* Broke the Republican supermajority in the State Senate and ended the effective GOP supermajority in the House
* Flipped two Senate seats, held another, nearly flipped a reach target, and flipped a key House district

This has been a key focus of our work in 2025. State legislators are on the front lines of the fight for voting fights — to stop restrictive bills and pass policies that ensure equal access to the ballot box. So winning races like these is critical to ensuring free and fair elections.

And state legislative elections will only grow more vital now that the Supreme Court looks likely to kick off a new state-by-state gerrymandering scramble for 2026. That’s why we’ve got to keep applying this winning model.

These Mississippi victories weren't narrow squeaks. Our candidates overperformed almost across the board with significant margins of victory, even as Republicans poured resources into these races through the state party and multiple independent expenditure groups.

Here’s what our investment looked like on the ground — powered by this grassroots movement, and in partnership with our in-state partners, the state party and local coalition leaders:

* Gave ongoing support to candidates and their teams, even while some were only just thinking about running
* Supported the party and campaigns as they knocked on tens of thousands of doors, sent mail pieces to voters, made thousands of phone calls, and sent hundreds of thousands of text messages
* Built robust voter protection infrastructure at the state party, including training 40 poll watchers

We didn’t come out of nowhere — and we aren’t going anywhere. Earlier this year, we helped flip nine municipal seats in Mississippi, helping voters build a habit of turning out at the polls even in a so-called “off year.” And the grassroots teams we supported will continue winning Mississippi elections for years to come.

So keep an eye on the state’s U.S. Senate race in 2026: the Republican incumbent is a consistent underperformer, the Democratic candidate for governor in 2023 only lost by about 3.2%, and we’re proud to support Scott Colom, a District Attorney who’s an incredibly strong candidate.

The 2025 election results give us hope for the future — and so do you. Your support has helped win key races and helped build the infrastructure, leadership, and momentum we need to defend democracy.

This is what it looks like to build pro-voter power in the South. It’s how we helped transform Georgia into a critical swing state. It’s how we’ll keep gaining ground in places like Mississippi. And it’s how we’ll expand this model — with support from this team.
