Friend,
You may have heard of Baloo, the 25-year-old bear we’ve been advocating for over the years—or this may be the first time you’re learning about him. Either way, his situation has never been more urgent.
Baloo has spent his entire life confined to a tiny, decrepit cage at a ski resort in Romania. He’s clearly in distress, pacing endlessly, and showing signs of severe neglect. Tourists throw objects at him and taunt him. And he survives on an inadequate diet and shows painful health issues without any evidence of veterinary care.
Keeping wild animals in captivity is cruel, unethical, and deprives them of the freedom they deserve. Bears are wild animals, not mascots—and in Romania, private ownership of bears has been illegal since 2005.
This summer, a new Minister of Environment was appointed in Romania. We’re asking supporters like you to join our international campaign advocates by emailing the Minister to take action for Baloo.
Our goal is to have Baloo transferred to Libearty Bear Sanctuary, a partner of World Animal Protection. At Libearty, Baloo could finally roam freely across 69 acres of forest, meadows, and ponds—a life of care, freedom, and dignity that he’s never known.
Friend, please take just a few minutes today to make your voice heard. Your email could be the one that finally helps Baloo escape his suffering.
Sincerely,
Your World Animal Protection US Team
