As a member-based organization, Alabama Arise is here to push forward the policy priorities of you, our members. It’s only together that we can dream big and accomplish real change for Alabama.

John, will you join Arise with a donation today to strengthen this shared agenda as we prepare for the 2026 legislative session?

As Arise’s organizer for northeast Alabama, including Madison County, I have the privilege of working with member groups like United Women of Color (UWOC), a nonprofit empowering girls, women and their communities. I am also a proud alumni of their leadership institute! Angela Curry, the founder and Executive Director of UWOC, says they first got involved with Arise through our statewide organizing efforts, particularly around Medicaid expansion:

“Maternal health care in Alabama is poor, and maternal health care outcomes for black women are atrocious. These are the communities we serve. We were excited to be a part of shaping the advocacy around health care issues as a member of Arise and Cover Alabama. But ultimately, I hope every initiative we vote on gets accomplished. That we have healthcare, and nobody in Alabama dies from a lack of access to hospitals. I hope that we lift people out of poverty so that’s no longer a barrier, and that people aren’t hungry. I hope we can accomplish this all together.”

Angela, like you, is a vital partner in the work to build a better Alabama. Together, we advocate to our lawmakers, host advocacy trainings and build relationships to advance opportunity. Angela said it best – coming together under one voice is what will allow us to reach our vision.

Will you give to Alabama Arise today to grow our membership and power to build a better Alabama for all?

Donate today!

In solidarity,

Tamela Glover, organizer for northeast Alabama
