Last night over dinner, my family and I listed the people we’re thankful for right now — and Monica was pretty high on the list.

Last night over dinner, my family and I listed the people we’re thankful for right now — and Monica was pretty high on the list.
My son really wants to be her campaign manager. I thanked him for wanting to do important work and then told him he has to win at least a student council election first, because Monica’s victory is too important to risk with inexperienced hands. (Even when they belong to my favorite human.)
This year has brought some unique and unexpected challenges to communities across San Diego County.
From the Buona Forchetta ICE raid to federal cuts, DOGE, and the shutdown, we’ve watched Trump and MAGA Republicans try to rip everything away from San Diegans. Safety. Economic opportunity. Basic life necessities. It’s rage-inducing.
But Monica has met the moment. She’s fighting back.
In the past three months alone, she:
Proposed a long-term plan to keep food and healthcare services in place for vulnerable San Diegans, no matter what MAGA throws at us.
Established the Office of Inspector General to improve conditions in county jails.
Helped bring hundreds of new affordable housing units to San Diego.
Advocated for state legislation to reduce energy bills.
Just imagine what she could do with a second term!
Thank you for everything you’ve done over the years to help Monica keep going. I’m not just grateful for Monica, I am grateful for the community that makes her leadership possible: you. We literally couldn’t do it without you.
In gratitude,
— Eva Posner
