Cleveland High School (I just wish I knew what I did with his autograph!). In 1964 I joined some of my Jesuit High School classmates to picket George Wallace at the old Portland airport. My sign read, “If Hell is Free, Why Can’t Alabama Be?” JFK’s famous admonition, “ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country,” led me to 44 years of government service, from the Navy to elected office to appointed management positions.
The sum of those experiences: love of place, love of nature, and appreciation for effective government brought me to OLCV 25 years ago. OLCV shares my values and puts them into effective political action. OLCV has earned my respect and financial support."
The work that we do every day matters. For over 50 years we have been a catalyst of holding our state elected officials accountable for how they voted on climate, providing easily accessible resources to assist voters in making informed decisions, and advocating for monumental climate legislation. |
