Durham has become the latest community to face the aggressive and unjust deployment of U.S. Border Patrol and ICE agents. I am outraged that these operations are expanding in North Carolina. 

The aggressive raids happening in our state and in cities across the nation are shocking and unacceptable. Instead of protecting civil rights, the Trump Administration has implemented policies that spread fear, strip away due process, and unfairly single out Black, Brown, and immigrant communities.

The use of unmarked cars, masked operatives, paramilitary-style tactics, and detentions without warrants represents a clear act of racial targeting and intimidation. 

This constitutes a serious misuse of authority, an infringement on civil liberties, and a threat to the principles of our democracy. I’m urging federal officials to put a stop to these tactics and launch thorough inquiries into every instance of racial discrimination and misconduct. 

I stand in solidarity with immigrant communities and am committed to ensuring those responsible for these harmful and unjust practices are held fully accountable.
